The newest entry in the iconic series that began with the original 1979 film by Ridley Scott debuted with 82% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes after 128 reviews. Alien Romulus is the third highest-rated title in the entire 45-year-old franchise, which revolves around a woman warrior (Cailee Spaeny) making her last stand against a slew of extraterrestrials.
Directed by Fede Alvarez, Alien: Romulus was praised by critics, with Empire Magazine describing the latest entry as the third-best film in the franchise. They wrote, “Fede Alvarez once again proves apt at the art of remixing with Alien: Romulus; it doesn’t have ambition or much originality, but it’s elevated by a chilling atmosphere, escalating momentum, and a resiliently fierce Cailee Spaeny.”

According to Deadline, 20th-century film Alien Romulus is tracking to earn $40 Million in U.S./Canada and another $35 Million overseas for a $75 Million global start. The projected estimates for the latest title put it slightly ahead of its predecessor Alien Covenants’ $36 million domestic start and $74 million global take, if Alien Romulus lives up to the expectations.
The Alien Romulus box office predictions indicate Disney will continue its No. 1 streak this year. 20th Century Fox is owned by Disney, which has made over $3 billion at the box office this year after Inside Out 2 and Deadpool and Wolverine crossed the billion-dollar mark globally.
